Punjab University Launches Online Affiliation Portal for Colleges

Punjab University has rolled out a new online affiliation portal, aimed at digitizing the processes that its affiliated colleges rely on for applications, records, and enrolment management.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali inaugurated the portal on Wednesday at a ceremony held in the VC’s Office Committee Room, alongside releasing the university’s affiliation report covering the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic sessions.

What the Report Shows

The report highlights the university’s progress on several fronts: digital transformation efforts, growth in the number of affiliated colleges, increased student enrolment, and the introduction of new academic programmes. According to the report, revenue collections from both private and public sector colleges rose significantly between the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 sessions.

Speaking at the launch, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali said the report reflects the university’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and quality education across its network of affiliated institutions. He also praised the university’s Affiliation Branch for digitizing all affiliation records, saying the move would improve record management, increase transparency, and make information more accessible to colleges.

What the Portal Actually Does

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram outlined the portal’s practical functions, colleges will now be able to submit applications online for new affiliations, affiliation extensions, and increases to their approved student intake limits, without the paperwork-heavy process this previously required.

The portal will also handle the online distribution of affiliation notifications and give colleges direct access to their own key details, their registered name, approved intake numbers, and affiliation sessions. Perhaps most usefully, the system is designed to automatically transfer affiliation data into the university’s registration portal, meaning affiliated colleges won’t need to re-enter the same information across separate systems when managing student enrolment.

Why This Matters for Affiliated Colleges

For the hundreds of colleges affiliated with Punjab University, this shift from paper-based to digital affiliation processes could meaningfully cut down on delays that have historically plagued approvals for new affiliations or intake increases. A digitized, transparent system also makes it harder for informal bottlenecks or inconsistent record-keeping to slow down colleges trying to expand their programmes or student capacity.

Whether the portal delivers on that promise in practice will likely become clearer as colleges begin using it through the upcoming admission cycles.
