The Higher Education Commission has issued an official clarification dismissing a letter circulating on social media that falsely claims the LLB law degree has been reduced from a five-year to a four-year programme for students currently enrolled.
The forged document, titled “Policy Guideline: LLB 4-Year Program Duration and GAT Eligibility for Current Students,” was not issued by HEC and contains false information, the commission confirmed.
The fake letter claimed that all students currently enrolled in the five-year LLB programme would automatically be moved to a four-year programme and would become eligible to sit the Law Graduate Assessment Test after completing their fourth year. HEC categorically rejected both claims.
The commission urged students, universities, and the general public not to trust or share the forged notification and warned that misinformation of this kind can cause unnecessary confusion and anxiety among law students planning their academic futures.
HEC advised everyone to rely only on information published through its official website and verified social media accounts for authentic policy announcements and updates.
