Lahore Grammar School Students Win Global Space Scholars’ Meet in Beijing

An all-girls team from Lahore Grammar School 55 Main has given Pakistan a genuine moment of pride on the international stage, winning the Global Future Space Scholars’ Meet (GFSSM) Final Round in Beijing.

The team represented Pakistan at the International Space Education Summit, competing against student teams from nine countries, including China, Russia, and Australia, along with participants from across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. By the end of the competition, the LGS team had not just held their own, they emerged as overall Champions of the Event.

What the Competition Actually Tests

GFSSM is a space commerce simulation competition for high school students, run jointly by international partners including the US Space Foundation and the UK National Space Academy, alongside a leading Chinese aerospace institution. Since launching in 2018, it has grown into a genuinely global platform, drawing teams from dozens of countries each year. Lahore Grammar School has served as GFSSM’s official partner school in Pakistan, making this year’s Beijing result the product of an established, ongoing pipeline rather than a one-off entry.

Teams at the competition are grouped into simulated aerospace companies and tested across several rounds, proposal design, systematic design, and live defence of their work in front of a panel, before a final championship round decides the overall winner.

The Wins, In Full

Beyond the overall championship, the Pakistani team picked up recognition across multiple categories:

• Champions of the Event, the top overall result at the competition
• Best Team in Systematic Design Qualifiers
• Best Speaker, awarded to a team member
• Best Leadership, awarded to another team member

Sweeping both the team title and two individual awards in the same competition is a notable result, particularly against a field that included teams from established aerospace nations like China, Russia, and Australia.
